Ahmedabad: Gujarat Police rescued 94 bonded workers on Saturday, including 12 minors from Ahmedabad's Chemical Factory in Kathwada. Police are presently interrogating the factory owners.
"The workers were brought from Nagaland and Assam. They were neither paid nor permitted to go home or outide. We've registered a case," Deputy Police Commissioner, told the media on Saturday.
On Friday night, police had obtained data about individuals being kept in a chemical plant in the Kathwada region as bonded labourers.
"We sent teams out to the place today. Initially, we believed there were 30 of them, but after we reached the premises, we saved 94 people and 12 of them were minors," added the officials.
