Elon Musk, the tech billionaire, has extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for achieving the status of the most followed global leader on the social networking site X, a significant milestone in the world of politics and social media.

In a post on X, the Tesla CEO wrote, “Congratulations, PM Narendra Modi, on being the most followed world leader!”

On July 14, Prime Minister Modi reached the significant milestone. He announced the following: “A hundred million on X! I’m happy to be on this vibrant medium and cherish the discussion, debate, insights, people’s blessings, constructive criticism, and more. Looking forward to an equally engaging time in the future as well.”

Prime Minister Modi’s social media following surpasses that of other Indian politicians by a significant margin. For instance, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has 27.5 million followers, Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav has 19.9 million, and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has 26.4 million, all falling short of PM Modi’s 100 million followers.

With 7.4 million followers, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee leads the RJD’s Lalu Prasad Yadav (6.3 million), Tejashwi Yadav (5.2 million), and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar (2.9 million). In other words, PM Modi has 100 million more followers on X than there are followers overall (95 million) for all the leaders in the INDIA bloc.

Another remarkable aspect of this achievement is that Prime Minister Modi’s total number of followers on X surpasses the populations of several countries, including Germany, the UK, Canada, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand. This global reach is truly impressive.

With more social media followers than other world leaders, including US President Joe Biden (38.1 million), Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed (11.2 million), Pope Francis (18.5 million), Giorgia Meloni (2.4 million), Justin Trudeau (6.5 million), Andres Manuel (10.9 million), and Recep Tayyip Erdogan (21.5 million), Prime Minister Modi has surpassed them all.

World leaders are keen to communicate with Prime Minister Modi due to his enormous popularity on social media. They are aware that these exchanges greatly increase their own follower counts, engagements, views, and reposts. Italy and Austria have recently shown signs of this trend.

Interestingly, Prime Minister Modi has more followers than several well-known international athletes and sports personalities, such as American basketball player LeBron James (52.9 million), Brazilian football player Neymar Jr. (63.6 million), and cricket player Virat Kohli (64.1 million). He also exceeds famous people like Kim Kardashian (75.2 million), Lady Gaga (83.1 million), and Taylor Swift (95.3 million) in terms of followers.

Prime Minister Modi’s user base on X has grown significantly by about thirty million in only the last three years. His popularity also extends to other social media sites, such as YouTube, with around 25 million subscribers, and Instagram, with more than 91 million followers. This organic growth is truly inspiring.

Prime Minister Modi has used the platform for meaningful engagement since he debuted it in 2009. Recognised for his engaging and friendly demeanour, he consistently engages with common people, answers messages, and, most importantly, has never blocked anyone. His entirely natural online persona makes the audience feel connected.

Millions of people around the globe have been enthralled with the Prime Minister’s mix of captivating and thought-provoking posts on X. His rise in the digital sphere emphasises his powerful presence and capacity to engage a broad and lively audience.
