This key organisation promotes Indian culture globally. The festivities, organised by the ICCR, showcased the spirit of solidarity and patriotism among Indian friends around the world and the Indian diaspora.

Ambassador Naveen Srivastava raised the national flag in a ceremony witnessed by friends of India, members of the Indian community in Nepal, and Embassy personnel together with their families.

Teachers and children from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathmandu, and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center gave moving performances of patriotic songs and dances at the event.

However, due to the prevailing security situation, the “celebrations were kept limited, with hopes of a larger gathering next time”, he added.

The Gandhi Centre in the Netherlands commemorated the event with powerful performances, including traditional dances and recitations of freedom speeches, that emphasised the role of art in India’s freedom movement and promoted a sense of solidarity among the attendees.

Indian students and community members showcased India’s rich cultural legacy in Saudi Arabia through a series of patriotically charged cultural performances, including classical dances, folk music, and dramatic reenactments of key moments in India’s freedom struggle.

Ambassador Sibi George met with Indian schoolchildren in Japan at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo during the Independence Day celebrations. The children sang patriotic songs on the occasion, enhancing their sense of patriotism.

In addition to honouring India’s independence, the international festivities strengthened the cultural bonds that unite the Indian diaspora with their country.
