New Delhi: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, disqualified from the gold medal match at the Paris Olympics, was given a grand welcome at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on her return home on Saturday.
Vinesh’s mother, her family members and many supporters were at the airport to welcome her.
Vinesh was garlanded with flowers amid slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai.

Vinesh, riding in an open-top car, waved at all the supporters and thanked them.
2016 Rio Olympics bronze medalist Sakshi Malik and Tokyo Olympics medalist wrestler Bajrang Punia were also present with him in the car.
Vinesh’s mother became emotional on this occasion and proudly said that her daughter had brought honour to the country. Other notable figures, including the Rio Olympics bronze medalist Sakshi Malik and Tokyo Olympics medalist wrestler Bajrang Punia, also expressed their admiration for Vinesh’s achievements and her warm reception upon arrival in India.
