Haridwar: On the last Monday of Shravan, a sea of devotees were seen in the Shiva temples of the religious city of Haridwar.

The ‘Jalabhishek’ of Bholenath, a deeply spiritual ritual where devotees fervently pour water over the Shiva ‘Linga’, was observed with great devotion. This act is believed to cleanse the soul and bring prosperity.

The atmosphere in the Shiva temples became devotional with the ‘Har Har Mahadev’ chants.

Devotees flocked to the Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple in Kankhal of Haridwar and the temples in Shivalik Nagar, offering a diverse range of items to Mahadev, from flowers and fruits to incense and sweets.

The temple committees made special arrangements for security so that the devotees would not face any inconvenience. The devotees performed pujas passionately and prayed for happiness and prosperity.

All the temples in the temple-town were grandly decorated for this special occasion.
