In a Booming Economy, Job Searches from Overseas to India Are Up 60%: Report

New Delhi: According to research released on Thursday, the number of job searches from outside India has increased by almost 60% since June 2021. This significant surge is a testament to the global recognition of India’s thriving engineering, digital services, and technology sector, and its general economic growth.

According to statistics from Indeed, a major international employment and matching platform, as workers in manual labour and skilled trades adjust to new market expectations, such as the need for digital skills and adaptability to technological advancements, the nation is quickly becoming a top destination for talent.

The US, the UK, and the UAE are leading this skill pool exchange. Between June 2021 and June 2024, searches from these nations to India rose 13%, 12%, and 7%, respectively.

Interestingly, while India is becoming more well-known worldwide, the number of job searches from India to other countries decreased by 17% between June 2021 and June 2024.

This pattern highlights India’s allure as a centre of innovation and economic expansion that attracts top talent worldwide.

“India is increasingly seen as a land of opportunity for professionals. This surge in interest from abroad underscores the confidence in India’s growth and its potential to lead in key industries,” said Rohan Sylvester, Talent Strategy Advisor at Indeed India.

According to the report, Indian job seekers now prioritise local opportunities over international positions, a shift reflecting confidence in the country’s economic stability and growth potential.

“Indian workers are increasingly choosing to build their careers at home, showing faith in the domestic job market,” Sylvester noted. “This marks a significant change in job seeker behaviour, with more workers finding opportunities that keep them close to home.”

According to the research, Indian blue-collar workers are not just resilient; they are adaptable. They are adjusting to the demands of the changing economy, upskilling, and moving into professions that combine conventional skills with new technology as automation and digitalisation alter industries.
