Bengaluru: In a shocking revelation, Darshan, the jailed Kannada superstar’s smiling and relaxed photograph, went viral on social media on Sunday. It shows him enjoying a cup of coffee and a cigarette inside the Central Jail in Parappana Agrahara, Bengaluru. This photo prompted concerns about prison officials providing him special treatment.
Darshan is the second culprit in the kidnapping and horrific murder of his fan Renukaswamy.
Darshan is pictured holding a coffee mug while sitting cross-legged on a chair. He is also shown enjoying himself inside the prison while having a cigarette with his other hand.
The snapshot also shows Darshan sitting on chairs with his manager and two other jail convicts, having a pleasant conversation free of fear or guilt.
Darshan is held in the prison’s special barracks.
The photo went viral on Sunday, fuelling suspicions that Darshan and his close colleagues were receiving special treatment inside the prison.
According to sources, the jail authorities have granted Darshan liberty inside the facility to roam and meet other convicts.
The discovery has devastated the family of Renukaswamy, a fan who was brutally murdered by Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others. The case is nearing the end of the charge sheet submission process, and this development is considered a blow for Darshan, who hopes to seek release soon after the police submit the charge sheet.
However, the Police Department has not commented on the incident.
The murder of Renukaswamy
Renukaswamy was brutally murdered on June 8 in Bengaluru.
He was kidnapped from his hometown of Chitradurga, brought to Bengaluru, confined in a shed, and tortured to death.
Following the murder, his body was tossed into a canal.
The event was discovered after security staff at a private apartment block noticed the body being dragged by a pack of dogs.
Renukaswamy is survived by his elderly parents, pregnant wife, and sister.
When the authorities began their investigation, four of the accused surrendered, admitting responsibility for the murder due to a money issue.
After interrogating them, Kamakshipalya Police discovered the involvement of actor Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda and others in the crime.
On the morning of June 11, actor Darshan was arrested in Mysuru, while Pavithra Gowda and other of Darshan’s associates were arrested in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda recently said the fan murder case involving Kannada actor Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others was nearing its conclusion.
The Police Commissioner revealed that oral, circumstantial, and technological evidence relating to the shocking murder had been gathered and transferred to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Bengaluru, from which around 70% of the reports were received.
It was found that the accused had brutally murdered Renukaswamy for sending obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda.
The court prolonged the judicial custody of Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others till August 28
