Cricketing Action in Kashmir Valley After Nearly 4 Decades with Legends League Finals on Sep 20

Srinagar: After a hiatus of nearly four decades, the echoes of cricket will once again reverberate in the picturesque Kashmir Valley. The Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, witness to many historic matches, will host the final leg of the Legends League Cricket, which commences on September 20 at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur.

The franchise-based tournament, a grand spectacle that will see over 200 players in action, will unfold in the vibrant cities of Jodhpur, Surat, and Jammu. It will be a momentous occasion as it brings the thrill of cricket back to Srinagar after a 38-year gap.

Srinagar hosted its last international match in 1986 when Australia defeated India by three wickets in an ODI.

Six teams will play 25 matches, with the final two teams playing an electric final on October 16.

The league will commence on September 20 at Jodhpur’s Barkatullah Khan Stadium and culminate on September 27 at Surat’s Lalbhai Contractor Stadium. The third leg, a historic moment as international cricket returns to Jammu after over three decades, will be played on October 6 at the Maulana Azad Stadium. This will be a golden opportunity for spectators to witness their cricketing heroes in action.

The LLC finals will be held in the Srinagar Bakshi Stadium on October 10.

In the previous edition, hosted in India, cricket fans were treated to a star-studded lineup featuring former international stalwarts like Suresh Raina, Aaron Finch, Martin Guptill, Gautam Gambhir, Chris Gayle, Hashim Amla, Ross Taylor, and many others, who demonstrated their abilities among 110 other legends.

The auction will take place in New Delhi on Thursday. Franchises will compete for India’s and world cricket’s top talents, with over 200 players up for grabs.
