Varanasi: Not only in Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir, but now people can taste the apples of Shiva’s city, Kashi (Varanasi), in Uttar Pradesh, as well.  Radheshyam Patel, a resident of Bhatpurva village of Sevapuri development block, has achieved this feat. Radheshyam has produced sweet apples like Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir even in 45 degrees Celsius temperatures.

Radheshyam said he started apple farming in 2019 after watching videos on YouTube.

Initially, 50 trees were planted as a trial. After a year, when the trees bore fruit, Radheshyam started apple farming on a large scale by planting 450 trees. About 10 kg of fruit is obtained from one tree, which is sold at Rs 150 per kg.

Radheshyam’s son Dhruv said that when his teacher in college learned that his father cultivated apples, he did not believe it; only when Dhruv treated others to apples from his farm did they believe and happily accept that those were apples from his farm in Banaras or Varanasi.
