‘Aram se Aram se…Zak is calm’ (take it easy, Zak is calm). That’s how former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes reacted about Zaheer Khan’s joining LSG (Lucknow Super Giants). He said that having someone like Zak (Zaheer Khan) around means that in team meetings, selection meetings, and meetings with owners, you need calm heads because the tournament goes up and down from a result point of view. Fortunately, we have that support on and off the field, and it’s important to continue that.
Zaheer joined LSG as their mentor, filling the vacancy left by Gautam Gambhir’s exit after IPL 2023. Reportedly, LSG is keen on giving Zaheer a wider profile, which will mean involvement with the scouting and player-development programmes during the off-season.
