Mumbai: Recently, Hatheli by Tisser held an exhibition here on the theme ‘Desh Ki Khoj’. The displays celebrated vibrant and diverse Indian art and craft, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage.

Undoubtedly, it was a testament to the diversity of Indian art forms and the boundless creativity of Indian artisans, a fusion that captured the essence of tradition and innovation.

The exhibition featured a curated collection of exquisite pieces, including furniture, home decor items, and artwork, seamlessly blending traditional techniques with modern aesthetics.  Each piece depicted a unique story of India’s legacy and everyday life.

With a deep appreciation for Indian craftsmanship, Hathelii specialises in designing interiors that are not only visually stunning but also reflect the unique personality of their clients.

As one walks through the gallery, one is easily immersed in the vibrant colours, intricate patterns, and timeless techniques passed down through generations, celebrating the artistic spirit of India.

Esteemed diplomats, distinguished art connoisseurs, and cultural enthusiasts registered their presence at this unique initiative. The visitors included US Consul General Mike Hankey and his Wife Melissa, the British Deputy High Commissioner for Western India, Ana Cecilia Serratos, and Alejandro Sanchez from the Mexican Consulate.

Overall, the event brought together a diverse group of individuals who shared a deep appreciation for the rich tapestry of Indian art and craftsmanship.

Desh Ki Khoj is a unique initiative celebrating the rich heritage of Indian art and crafts and exploring their relevance in contemporary design. It celebrates the artisans behind the masterpieces and fosters cross-cultural understanding.

The driving force behind this exhibition, Hathelii by Tisser, is a platform dedicated to promoting and preserving Indian craftsmanship. Its focus is on creating livelihoods for women artisans across India. The organisation specialises in creating interiors that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Moreover, Hathelii collaborates with skilled artisans from across the country to bring their unique creations to life. Dr Megha Phansalkar, Tisser’s founder, is a regional planner in the development sector focusing on community-led programmes such as rural water supply, sanitation, and livelihood development. Her endeavour, Tisser Artisan Trust, is a social venture established to uplift the lives of rural Indian artisans.
