Why is Teachers’ Day Special for Students ?

In India, the 5th of September is celebrated as Teachers’ Day every year. It was started on 5 September 1962.

This day commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President and second President of India, a scholar, teacher, and famous philosopher.

He was born on 5 September 1888 in Tiruttani, Tamil Nadu. He was also awarded the country’s highest civilian honour, ‘Bharat Ratna.’ Considering his work in the education sector, it was decided to celebrate Teacher’s Day on 5 September.
