The Department of School Education and Literacy, part of the Ministry of Education, also organises a nationwide event to commemorate Teachers Day. During this event, the coveted National Teachers’ Awards are presented to the country’s most dedicated and excellent teachers.

President Draupadi Murmu will deliver the National Teachers’ Awards 2024 to 82 outstanding educators on Thursday at a special ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. These awards recognise teachers who have made important contributions to the education sector.

Two of the 82 recipients are differently abled, and one specialises in working with children with special needs (CWSN). The recipients also comprise educators from other departments, including 16 teachers from the Department of Higher Education and 16 from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, showcasing the diverse and inclusive nature of the awards.

To honour teachers, the Amrit Udyan at Rashtrapati Bhavan will be exclusively opened to educators on Teachers’ Day. A free shuttle bus service will facilitate access between the Central Secretariat Metro Station and Gate No. 35 of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
