Mumbai: National Award-winning filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri revealed on Thursday that his next film, “The Delhi Files—The Bengal Chapter,” will be released on August 15 of next year. He also disclosed that the film will be divided into two parts, with “The Bengal Chapter” being the first. The film is the outcome of extensive research.

Agnihotri and his team delved deep into a wealth of material, immersing themselves in over 100 books and more than 200 articles about the historical events that form the backbone of his film. Their dedication led them to tour across 20 states, reviewing over 7000+ research pages and 1000+ archived papers in addition to books.

Agnihotri, who has made films such as “The Tashkent Files,” “The Kashmir Files,” and “The Vaccine War,” made the announcement on X, formerly called Twitter.

The director put out a poster with a silhouette of a child raising hands to the national emblem in the background.

The caption read: “MARK YOUR CALENDAR: August 15, 2025. After years of research, the story of #TheDelhiFiles is too powerful for one part. We’re excited to bring you The Bengal Chapter – the first of two parts, unveiling a significant chapter in our history.”

“The Delhi Files” features Agnihotri’s wife, Pallavi Joshi, who is also co-producing the film. Other cast members include Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Puneet Issar, Babbu Maan, Govind Namdev, and Palomi Ghosh.

Other details of the film are still being kept under wraps, adding to its intrigue and anticipation.

Agnihotri made his directorial debut in 2005 with the crime thriller “Chocolate”, a remake of the 1995 Hollywood neo-noir crime thriller “The Usual Suspects”. He then made “Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal”, “Hate Story”, “Buddha In A Traffic Jam”, “Zidd”, and “Junooniyat.”
