Nikita Porwal from Madhya Pradesh Wins the Femina Miss India Crown

Mumbai: Mumbai:  In the 60th year of the Miss India beauty pageant this year, Nikita Porwal from Madhya Pradesh was crowned Femina Miss India 2024 during a glittering event on Wednesday at Mumbai’s Famous Studios.

Rekha Pandey from the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Aayushi Dholakia from Gujarat were selected as first and second runners-up, respectively.

Several celebrities attended the event, where Vineet Jain, the Managing Director of Times Group, graced the red carpet. The winner, Nikita Porwal, will now represent India in the 73rd Miss World competition.

This year’s Miss India pageant was a vibrant celebration of diversity, with 30 participants representing all 29 states, including Delhi, and a Union Territory representative, ensuring every corner of India was represented on the stage.

The event concluded with Nandini Gupta of Rajasthan, the outgoing Femina Miss India 2023, crowning Nikita Porwal of Madhya Pradesh as the new Femina Miss India 2024.

The competition included 30 candidates from all 29 states and one from the Union Territories.

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Nikita strongly supports animal welfare. She hopes to utilise her position to inspire compassion for all sentient beings. Her motto expresses her ambition to have a significant impact: “Be a life that matters, a loss that is felt.”

The jury for Femina Miss India 2024 featured prominent figures from different fields. Among them was Anusha Dandekar, a well-known television personality and actress. Other jury members were fashion designers and industry professionals who judged competitors on various characteristics, including beauty, talent, and personality.

The event featured celebrity performers, including former Miss India Sangeeta Bijlani, who walked the ramp.

The pageant commemorated its legacy by releasing a music anthem, ‘Rise of Queen.’ This anthem, a celebration of the strength and beauty of Indian women, is available on streaming platforms, allowing fans to relive the pageant’s history and significance.

The event featured various activities leading up to the finals, including promotional visits and subtitle competitions for contenders. These competitions, which tested the participants’ knowledge, wit, and charm, added an extra layer of excitement to the pageant.
The event underscored its commitment to social responsibility by raising funds for tribal women’s welfare through the ‘Beauty With a Purpose’ project. This is a testament to the pageant’s dedication to making a positive impact on society and inspiring hope for a better future.

The show, a culmination of beauty, talent, and social responsibility, will be broadcast on Doordarshan on November 10, 2024, and will be available for streaming on the JioCinema OTT platform starting the same day.
