Belgian Princess to Lead Economic Mission to India; Explore Cooperation in Logistics, Manufacturing and Healthcare

Mumbai: The Consul of Belgium in Mumbai, Frank Geerkens, informed that the Belgian Economic Mission, led by Princess Astride, the sister of King Philippe of Belgium, will visit India next March. This mission holds the promise of significant economic benefits for both India and Belgium.

In addition to the existing trade in diamonds and other commodities, emphasis will be laid on enhancing cooperation in logistics, manufacturing, and healthcare.

The consul general met Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan and said Belgium had a large diamond trade with Maharashtra and Gujarat. He added that Belgium was the healthcare hub, and efforts were being made to increase cooperation in this field.

He further informed the Governor that the Federation of European Businesses in India (FEBI) was working to increase India-Europe trade. He said that Belgium also cooperated with the Skill agency in Maharashtra to promote skill development.

Maharashtra Governor Radhakrishnan expressed the hope that a signed free trade agreement between India and Europe will double multilateral trade, marking a significant step forward in India-Belgium trade relations.
