Suresh Prabhu, R.K.Sinha presented SIES-Kanchi Seer Award.

The Railway Minister Mr Suresh Prabhu was presented the 18th SIES Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati National Eminence award for his outstanding leadership in Public life , at a function  at the Sri Shanmukhananda hall , Mumbai recently. “The SIES has set up four awards in the name of the late Sankaraacharya of Kanchi Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati  , who lived for 100 years and  passed away in 1994 said the president of SIES Dr. V.Shankar .
 
Other recipients of the award includes the Atomic Energy chairman Dr. R.K.Sinha for Science and Technology, Chairperson of Aditya Birla centre, Smt Rajashree Birla for Community leadership  and Dr. David Frawley , a western born teacher in the Vedic tradition who has studied Ayurveda, yoga, Vedic astrology as well as the ancientVedic teachings in India . He is today recognized as one of the most important Ayurveda teacher in the country and a recipient of Padma Bhushan.
 
In his thanks giving address after receiving the award the Railway minister Suresh Prabhu ,said the country needed a bridge between traditional and modern, and should find the common bond tying people together across different geographies in the country."The country needed to find the one common thing that connected people in India across geographies. “That is what is going to be our strength and be the process that will drive India forward,” the minister added.

Dr.Sinha stressed the importance of nuclear energy to maintain the ecological balance going forward. “Nuclear power is highly concentrated, and yields a greater amount of energy than other resources. The total amount of waste produced, land required is also much lower,” he said.

Each award carrys a cash prize of Rs. 2.5 lakhs , a large sized lamp, a scroll.
On arrival the awardees were received with full NCC guard of honour .The programme began with a Vedic recitation by the students of the SIES Vedapatashala , Nerul, and prayer song by the student of the SIES College. Before presentation , a invocation in Sanskrit was read and awards presented.
 
The earlier awardees include Late Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr.Nani Palkhiwala ,Dr. M.S.Subbulakshmi, Mr. Dilip Kumar , Dr. K.Kasturirangan ,Dr. Latha Mangeshkar, Dr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Dr.Veerendra Heggade.
