Impetuous Bahujan Samaj Party head Mayawati Sunday became the first leading politician to openly unveil her own aspiration for the top job in the country, saying she is throwing in her hat for the race to the 7 Race Course Road. Presenting herself a PM stuff, Mayawati attacked the BJP candidate for the post Narendra Modi, whom she said is “unfit for the job” as he is “narrow-minded”.   “People must think before voting, because a person who aspires to be the PM but talks only about saving Gujaratis in a calamity like the one that struck Uttarakhand last month will not be able to work honestly on a post which requires a nationalist outlook and secular credentials,” claimed Mayawati.

Addressing  a Brahmin outreach programme at Ramabai Rally Sthal where she announced 21 Brahmin and 17 Dalit candidates for 38 of the 80 seats in UP, where the Brahmins and the Dalit are in a majority. “I have given more tickets to Brahmins because of their participation in party activities. If other upper castes and Muslims contribute more, they may get an even bigger share of election tickets and if voted to power, in the government and administration,” said Mayawati. In the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, the Brahmin vote share dropped although the BSP won some seats. But it was routed in the 2012 assembly polls, forcing Maya to go back to consolidate her core Dalit vote bank. She is now trying to expand again.
