In a surprise move the MMRDA has completed the work on the north bound arm of the Kherwadi flyover before time. The north-bound arm of 580-m-long Kherwadi flyover on the Western Express Highway is expected to be opened for motorists before April 15.

The south-bound carriageway of the Rs 22-crore flyover was opened for traffic in June 2014. After the northern arm is operational, the flyover will provide three lanes each in both directions, reducing travel time, and decongest Kherwadi and Kalanagar junctions."Finishing work on the northern arm is under way, including laying of asphalt," said a senior MMRDA official.

The flyover is likely to be opened without an official function due to the code of conduct for Bandra (E) assembly constituency bypoll.
