Allah Rakkha Rahman or AR Rahman, the Oscar winner and one of the top musicians has recently hogged limelight for his recent encounter with the Dabang of Bollywood, Salman Khan. He bumped into controversy when the enfant terrible, Sallu, called him an ‘average’ crooner. He doused the fire and called the episode as ‘media’ creation. Everything is fine between me and Sallu, he said. In an interview with a popular tabloid, he spoke on a spectrum of issues – creating soundtracks for movies, Bollywood, Rajinikanth and of course reassessed two India-centric Hollywood movies, Slumdog Millionaire and Million Dollar Arm.

The music composer expressed his eagerness to work with Salman and revealed Sallu even approached him with scripts. “I would love to work with him. He has already approached me with three-four scripts. I may take up one of them. It will be very interesting to create a soundtrack for a Salman starrer because his projects are quite different from the films I have done so far,” the ace music producer said.

The top singer-songwriter did not hide his soft corner for the south mega star Rajinikanth. ‘Linga’ – a new flick from Rajini’s stable, is set in different time zones. Rahman is hopeful his ‘music will work around these time zones.’  ‘I won’t disappoint Rajini sir’s fans,’ he said.

Million Dollar Arm and Kochadaiyaan dates are clashing as both of these movies are opening together this Friday. ‘Slumdog Millionaire and Million Dollar Arm are Hollywood projects with Indian settings but their scripts are poles apart. And so is the music,’ he quipped.

Million Dollar Arm is a sports-driven film, so one shouldn’t expect the actors to spring into a song-and-dance unexpectedly. The maestro with Midas’ touch is also working on two 2015 English releases, The Hundred Foot Journey, a feature film, and Monkeys Of Bollywood, an animated movie.

Back to Bollywood – the crooner-composer did not hide his ‘pleasure’ for teaming up with Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha. ‘He’s such a chilled out filmmaker’, he said.

Ashutosh Gowariker is another regular on his wish-list. He is working on the two coveted projects with him, Mohenjo-daro and his TV show Everest.
