Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has purchased seven state-of-the-art full flight simulators worth more than $200 million. The simulators bought from Canadian manufacturer CAE will be based at the airline's training academy in Abu Dhabi. The first simulators, of an A320, is scheduled for delivery in November. The remaining will arrive over the following 12 months.

"We place great emphasis on the efficiency of our operations and the safety of our passengers and this deal means we will be using the most advanced training technologies for the broadest range of aircraft types," said James Hogan, Etihad Airways' president and chief executive. The training academy will eventually house 11 full flight simulators, making it among the best in the world, he said.
