The US president Barack Obama has authorized the army to launch a targeted airstrikes in order to release those trapped in the enemy zones in Iraq. The decision came in the wake of the request made by the Iraqi government to spurn violence there.
The warring nation, that saw the emergence of an odious terror outfit – ISIS recently, is reeling through civil war, pitting Shias and Sunnis at each other’s loggerheads.
The bloody conflict has claimed thousands of innocent lives since the war took an ominous turn and scores of people are still stranded seeking help to escape Iraq.
The US military has also mooted to airdrop essential items like food packets, medicines and blankets to the country’s minorities and other hapless people who are trapped there.
