All eyes on VP Biden for new immigration bill

There’s some good news for Indians wanting to seek employment in USA. On the eve of US Vice President Joe Biden’s maiden Indian trip, the Obama Administration has stated that the Senate version of the comprehensive immigration bill and its provisions around H-1B visas would benefit Indians. Earlier there were wide spread concerns amongst South Asian groups over several provisions in the bill.

Recently a large group had  met white house officials stating that several provisions in the comprehensive immigration bill will provide pathway to citizenship to some 11 million illegal immigrants. It has also been observed that the bill does not allow outplacement of H1B visa holders if they form more than 15% of a  U.S. company workforce.

It also limits the proportion of H1B and L1 visa workers relative to a firm’s total U.S. employees to 50% by FY17 (starting October 2016). Indian IT firms send large numbers of their employees to the U.S. to work at client locations on temporary work visas — the H1B or L1 visas.

Remarks Mathew John who runs his placement business, “Any bill which the US government introduces, especially for Indian professional has to be studied and worked upon. One cannot just believe on whatever they say.”
