EC is a BJP puppet ignor

ME News Bureau: NEW DELHI: Protesting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'roadshow' in Gujarat after casting his vote, Congress workers on trooped towards the Election Commission (EC) office in Delhi The police stopped Congress workers and apprehended them outside Sardar Patel Bhawan close to Patel Chowk. Security has been augmented outside the EC office.

Replying to the allegations, the EC stated that the complaint seems anticipatory in nature. The Gujarat Chief Electoral Officer said, "We have received a complaint pertaining Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violation after casting of the vote. It is a complaint which is more anticipatory in nature which says the crowd was there and this could be a roadshow. This complaint has been given to the Ahmedabad DEO."

The election panel added that a team to monitor poll code violation was present at the spot and are finalizing its report.

Congress alleged that the Prime Minister violated the poll code of conduct by conducting a mini 'roadshow' in Ranip after he voted for the assembly elections in Gujarat on Thursday.

Modi reached the Ranip polling booth amidst enormous applause from the crowd present. After he came out of the booth, he flashed his inked finger at the crowd.

Witnessing the spectacle, the Congress has knocked the door of the EC, accusing the Prime Minister of holding a roadshow to influence voters.

Randeep Surjewala, Congress party MLA claimed that adding that the EC has become a front organization of the BJP. "The EC has become a puppet and constitutional norms are being violated. Amit Shah addressed the press meet at a public place like Ahmedabad airport, yet the EC did not react. We petition that if EC has any shame for their position and Constitution, they need to act," he said.
