ME News Bureau: Gurgaon: The Juvenile Justice Board has ruled that the Class 11 student accused in Pradyuman murder should be tried as an adult. Thanking the judiciary for the decision, Varun Thakur, Pradyuman's father, said, "We always knew that the journey is long but we will go till the end to get justice for my child and all other children who might be vulnerable".

Following this ruling, Pradyuman Thakur's family lawyer stated that the convict will be considered as an adult during future proceedings.

The Board has transferred the case to the District and Sessions Court, wherein the hearing will start on December 22.

Pradyuman was found with his throat slit in the toilet of Ryan International School in Gurgaon on September 8.

In a dramatic turn to the case, the CBI detained a senior student of the school on November 8 in connection with the murder, rejecting the Gurgaon police's theory that school bus conductor Ashok Kumar had committed the murder, and had arrested him

According to CBI, the Class 11 student, said to be weak in studies, allegedly slit Pradyuman's throat so that the school will declare a holiday in order to postpone a scheduled parent-teacher meeting (PTM) and an examination.

Pradyuman's family had demanded harsh punishment for the accused and wanted him to be tried as an adult and hanged.
