ME News Bureau: Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) unveiled a new mode of security system – a 16 digit ‘virtual ID’ – to prevent data sharing from your Aadhaar card.

Central government had been looking for options to thwart any Cases of your Aadhaar being shared whereas the 16-digit virtual ID sought to address security and privacy concerns.

The new ID that will be available from the UIDAI website will be enough for all verification purposes even for the mobile SIM verification.

Biometric information of the consumers will be included in the new virtual ID. Services that require only name, photo and address will be delivered through virtual ID. You can opt to use the Virtual ID as many times as you want, or keep generating a new one every time you have to share your unique ID.

The government expects that Virtual ID will bring an end to the issues of leakage of holders’ Aadhaar number and details.

Aadhaar holders can generate their Virtual ID from 2018 March 1 while it will become a mandatory for the agencies to collect it from June 1.
