Quentin Tarantino's untitled movie about cult leader and murderer, Charles Manson, is set to feature Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role. The film is DiCaprio's first film since his Oscar-winning role in Alejandro G Inarritu’s ‘The Revenant’. DiCaprio and Tarantino previously worked together on ‘Django Unchained’ that released in 2012.

This will be the first movie that Tarantino will release without the Weinstein Company following sexual misconduct allegations against its disgraced founder Harvey Weinstein. Sony beat out several bidders, including, Paramount and Warner Bros. for the movie’s rights and is handling the distribution of the film.

The film is set in 1969 Los Angeles and the Oscar winner will be seen playing an aging actor whose life intersects with the murders. This film is Tarantino’s ninth movie as a director. Margot Robbie is reportedly being lined up to portray the late actress Sharon Tate. Reportedly, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt are also vying the project for what is known to be “two meaty” male roles.

The film, produced by Harry Potter’s David Heyman, Tarantino and Shannon McIntosh, with Georgia Kacandes exec producer and line producer, is set to release on August 9th, 2019 which incidentally coincides with the 50th anniversary of Tate's murder.
