Media Eye News Bureau: All the issues raised by the four senior-most Supreme Court (SC) judges who had revolted against the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra would be resolved soon. This assurance was reportedly given by the CJI to a delegation of the Bar Council of India (BCI) who had met him to sort out the judiciary imbroglio.

A seven-member delegation of the council held a meeting with CJI and a number of other judges in its efforts to end the predicament that hit the highest judiciary after four senior-most judges Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph, at press conference last Friday, questioned "arbitrary" allocations of cases to handpicked benches.

The likelihood of full court meeting was also communicated on Monday where the CJI might meet with all the other judges to address the complaints.

Justices SA Bobde and L. Nageswara Rao. two other judges of the apex court, also met Justice Chelameswar, who led the four judges in the unprecedented press meet, at his residence.

Frenzied meetings took place throughout the day, with lawyers meeting different judges, including Justice Arun Mishra who heard Mumbai special judge BS Loya's death case.

Vikas Singh, President, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), visited the CJI’s residence to present the resolution passed by the executive committee.

Said Singh after a 15-minute meeting with the CJI, "I met the CJI and handed over a copy of the resolution. He said that he would look into it and ensure there was congeniality in the Supreme Court at the earliest."

At an emergency meeting on Saturday the SCBA had passed a resolution, voicing "grave concern" over the differences between four senior-most judges and the CJI and said the problem should be urgently considered by the full court of the apex court.

The SCBA’s executive committee resolved that all public interest litigation (PIL) matters, including the pending PILs, should be either taken up by the CJI or be allotted for settlement to four senior judges who are members of the apex court Collegium.

After meeting the CJI, Manan Kumar Mishra, Chairman, BCI, said, "We met the CJI and he said there would be a very congenial atmosphere in the Supreme Court and everything will be sorted."

"The BCI has a limited role. We can't interfere much. This is an internal issue. All judges whom we met said everything will be sorted out," Mishra, however, clarified.
