Media Eye News Bureau: Actor James Franco has been shut out by the Oscars, after bagging the awards for the Best Actor in a Comedy Film at both, the Golden Globes as well as the Critics' Choice Awards.
The nominations come after the actor was accused of sexual assault by five women, the allegation that has been denied by both the actor and his lawyer as well. Rumours first began swirling about Franco's alleged misconduct after actor Ally Sheedy threw shade at his Golden Globes on twitter she tweeted, “James Franco just won. Please never ask me why I left the film/TV business.” The tweet has been since deleted.
However, it that Franco's alleged inappropriate behaviour may have impacted his chances for an Oscar nomination though his film, The Disaster Artist did score an Oscar nomination for best adapted screenplay.
Though Franco won't be in the running to win Best Actor, the nominations include Timothee Chalamet, Daniel Day-Lewis and Daniel Kaluuya, Gary Oldman and Denzel Washington among others.
Margot Robbie, Frances McDormand, Meryl Streep, Sally Hawkins and Saoirse Ronan are nominated for Best Actress as well.
