Media Eye News Bureau: Actress Meryl Streep is set to star in the second season of HBO’s drama starring Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman.
Streep will portray Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Perry Wright played by Alexander Skarsgard, who, concerned for the well-being of her grandchildren following her son Perry’s death, Mary Louise arrives in Monterey searching for answers.
The show is partially based on a story by Liane Moriarty. Season two of the show is said to explore the ‘malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and the vicious ferocity of sound parenting,’ among other themes.
Streep had starred in a leading role in HBO's miniseries adaptation of Angels in America. Big Little Lies is reported to be her largest TV role to date. The actress is also said to star in the J.J. Abrams TV series The Nix as well.
