IPL Auction Live: This year's auction features 580 players in all with 361 of them being Indians. There are 16 top players awarded marquee status and a base price of Rs 2 crore.
The IPL auction always comes up with a surprise. The first round of the auction completely went to the Indian players
R Ashwin the ace Indian spinner will be playing for the Punjabi team Kings eleven Punjab along with Karun Nair, Yuvraj Singh & KL Rahul. KL Rahul was bought by Kings 11 Punjab for a whooping 11 crore.
Another Indian player who went for 11 crore is Manish Pandey who will be playing for Sun Risers Hyderabad along with Shikhar Dhawan who was retained using RTM by Hyderabad.
Rajasthan Royals spent a whooping 2.1 million to buy Ben Stokes. Ajinkya Rahane was retained by Rajasthan using RTM and Stuart Binny for 50 lakhs.
CSK Retained Faf Du Plesis, D Bravo & Kedar Jadhav . Harbhajan Singh will be playing for a different franchise for the first time in IPL, Bhaji will be playing under the captaincy of M.S Dhoni .
Delhi Dare Devils bought Glen Maxwell for 9 crores along with Gautam Gambhir & Chris Munro.
KKR bought Chris Lynn and the ace Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc for 9.4 and 9.6 crore respectively .
Mumbai Indian retained their all rounder Keiron Pollard using RTM card.
Chris Gayle, Hasim Amla & Murli Vijay went unsold in the first round.
