Khelo India School Games

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Khelo India School Games and asserted that this event will help highlight the country's sporting talent and its potential to the world and that, sports should occupy a central place in the lives of the country's youth. Modi declared open the KISG at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi.

Modi addressed the youth to take up sports actively for the development of the nation.  He added that it was great to see youngsters from rural India and smaller cities excelling as sportspersons and said that the government would provide every possible help to talented youngsters and that, they would select 1000 kids every year from different sports and provide them Rs 5 lakh per annum for 8 years as well.

Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore further declared that KISG would be an annual affair. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra and School Games Federation of India President Sushil Kumar were present at the event as well.
