Media Eye News Bureau: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the project for the first Hindu temple to be built in UAE capital Abu Dhabi.

Initiating the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Temple Modi expressed, “I believe this temple will not be only unique in terms of architecture and splendour, but will also give a message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (World is One) to people across the world.”

PM Modi interacted with the Indian community via a live video streamed from the Dubai Opera House. He thanked the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on behalf of 125 crore Indians for the construction of the temple.

A BAPS spokesperson stated that the temple is the first traditional Hindu stone temple in the Middle East which will be built on 55,000 square metres of land in the UAE and will be hand-carved by Indian temple artisans. It is set to be completed by 2020 and will be open to people of all religious backgrounds. The temple is said to incorporate all aspects and features of a traditional Hindu temple as part of a fully functional, social, cultural and spiritual complex and is also said to mirror the BAPS Akshardham temple in New Delhi as well.
