Actor Michael Fassbender is set to star in director David Sandberg's action-comedy Kung Fury in which Sandberg will also star in as well as produce under his Laser Unicorns banner. David Hasselhoff, who appeared in the original film and sang the theme song ‘True Survivor,’ will join the cast as well.
The original Kung Fury, released in 2015, was a super successful film and was selected for the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes and as well as gained over 40 million views worldwide.
The film is set in a 1985 Miami backdrop which is kept safe under the watchful eye of Kung Fury, the greatest cop of all time. Kung Fury’s Thundercops are the police force assembled from across history to defeat the villainous Kung Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler.
David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame-Smith and Aaron Schmidt will produce under their KatzSmith Productions banner. Philip Westgren of B-Reel Films and Conor McCaughan will also produce while Pelle Strandberg is executive producing on behalf of Laser Unicorns.
