Beauty Trends 2018

The fashion and beauty industry has grown in leaps over the years with people closely following the ever changing trends constantly. When you talk about any decade, what invariably pops up in everyone’s minds are the fashion and beauty trends of the time. Beauty and fashion are what drives a certain era like for example the 80s are synonymous with shoulder pads, mullets, neon clothing, chunky jewellery and prints whereas the 90s were comparatively subdued. Here is a list of trends specifically in the world of beauty that are anticipated to take over 2018.

  • Korean and Japanese beauty

While Korean beauty took over 2017, it is set to lead into 2018 along with Japanese beauty as well. Especially in skincare with sheet masks, eye creams, facial oils and serums among others. Korean and Japanese skincare rituals may look a lot but they are extremely beneficial for the skin as majority of these products use natural ingredients such as volcano clay, goji berries, avocado, matcha and even essential oils.

  • Be The Glow Getter

2018 is all about getting that glow on. Move over matte or caked up skin, it is all about that dewy, luminous finish. It is anticipated that the 2018 trend is set to be natural, ‘no-makeup’ makeup kind of finish. Focussing on a more ‘glow from within’ look, this trend will make use of subtle highlighting techniques rather than a bold popping highlight and will not emphasise on contouring which was all the rage last year.

  • All That Glitters

With all the glitter trends that have been shining through (no pun intended), glitter eyes are where it’s at this year. Instead of using a regular glitter, which can be sometimes (read: always) hard to remove, try using glitter gels, glitter eye shadows or even glitter liquid shadows that are not only easy to remove, but are perfect to bring out your bling as well.

  • Let’s Face It

Brands are set to be all inclusive as the shade range for foundations or concealers would not be just a limited range of shades but that, they will cater to people from all types of skin to colours as well.

  • Smooth and Shiny

Matte lips were all the rage in 2016 and 2017, however, the trend seems to be in for a change as satin finish lipsticks and pigmented lip glosses are taking over to compliment the dewy, clean and luminous ‘no makeup’ makeup trend.

  • All About That Rouge

….Or maybe not! 2018 is all about less is more and so, rather than using dark or bright blushes to add a flush of colour to your face, use shades such as nude or coral or light pink to make it look more natural and to give you that fresh look.

  • Negatives and Blues

This year is all about having fun and experimenting and so, to give a twist to your classic winged liner is a graphic winged liner that after creating the wing, does not fill it in and rather leaves the area as a negative space which gives it an edgy yet elegant look. Besides this, blue or aqua eye shadow and liner is also trending to give that pop of colour and to use instead of the commonly used black eyeliner.
