Justice Ranjan Gogoi takes charge as the 46th Chief Justice of India. Justice Gogoi was administered the oath of office by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rastrapati Bhavan. Mr. Gogoi becomes the new Chief Justice of India after Justice Dipak Misra completed his term on October 1.
Many dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, former prime ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda were present at the Rashtrapati Bhavan's Darbar Hall for the ceremony.
