Mumbai: The members of the Students’ Council of the SIES College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sion, jointly with the college Politics association organized for the first time a unique programme “ Ecclesia -Voice of the Youth” at the college premises. This programme was organized for the students’ awareness on the national issues.

“Ecclesia is an attempt made by the students for the students, for the purpose of understanding how the Indian Supreme Legislation works” said the Students Council general secretary Divya Sharma. Here, we understand the procedures practically by presenting bills and engaging in deliberations and discussions based on them. Ecclesia attempts to replicate the Lower House of Indian Parliament (Loksabha), but does not imitate it as it is, Divya added.

During the deliberation, three bills were presented, followed by debate and discussion on the bills. The three bills presented were 'Right to enter religious institutions”, ‘Right to privacy’ (special focus on Aadhar card) and 'Prevention of mob lynching’.
