Chennai: One of the convicts in the event of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, S. Nalini, released on Thursday's one-month parole from Tamil Nadu's Vellore prison.

On July 5, the Madras High Court awarded Nalini a one-month parole on her request for a six-month parole to arrange for the wedding of her daughter.

Nalini had been specified by the tribunal not to meet with politicians and media. In her plea, Nalini said that after finishing two years in prison, every life convict was entitled to one month of normal leave and she had not even taken the leave once in the previous 27 years she had spent in prison.
