Congress leader DK Shivakumar has lodged a Rs. 204 crore defamation lawsuit against what he claims former Union minister and BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal as "fake and groundless accusations."
Following Mr Shivakumar's defamation suit in his home town of Kanakapura, the First Class or JMFC judge acknowledged the case and issued a summons to Mr Yatnal.
Mr Yatnal, speaking to the media released a ' harmful, image-wrenching and unfounded statement against Shivakumar, putting pressure on domestic BJP leaders and union BJP ministers to guarantee that he is free from instances investigated by the Department of Income Tax (IT) and the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) '
The petition also stated that Vijayapura mentioned that Shivakumar had "promised to stay neutral and not become a stumbling block in Karnataka's BJP state formation."
