Mira Road: A woman and her lover were detained by Mira Road cops on Monday for supposedly murdering her husband on July 15 by blending 20 sleeping pills in his tea, strangulating him with a rope, and smothering him with a pillow. Police said in the past they had attempted to murder the guy twice by blending in his tea 10 sleeping pills, but failed because he was not losing consciousness.
Deepti Patankar, 40, stayed in a seventh-floor apartment in NG Silver Spring Apartment at Ramdev Park with her husband, Pramod, 43. Deepti worked in a Goregaon college as a clerk, while Pramod worked with a finance company based in Mumbai.
Police say Deepti has had an affair since 2015 with one Samadhan Uddhav Pashankar, 40, a Pashan resident in Pune. "To meet Deepti, Samadhan would create frequent journeys from Pune. One day, Pramod returned early to his home and caught the two in a compromise position, "Navghar Police Station police inspector Ram Bhalsinh said.

Samadhan, who waited downstairs, went to the apartment as he fell unconscious and took Pramod to the bedroom. Then Samadhan strangled Pramod with a rope, while Deepti was holding his feet.
