New Delhi: Former BJP MLA Manoj Shokeen has been booked by the Delhi Police for reportedly raping and threatening his daughter-in-law at gunpoint on the night of 31 December 2018 and 1 January this year, police said on Saturday. The victim approached the police on Thursday following  an FIR registered  against the Shokeen, Nangloi Assembly's former two-time MLA. The victim in her complaint allegedly left her maternal home along with her spouse, brother, and a friend on December 31, 2018, and went to her in-laws home in the Meera Bagh region, according to police. 

But instead of taking her to their house, her husband took her to a hotel in Paschim Vihar area. Some of my relatives were already there to celebrate New Year's Eve when we arrived at the hotel. After the party, we walked around 12.30 a.m. to my in-laws house in Meera Bagh. January 1st. My husband went out to sleep with his friends. The police said that she further claimed that at around 1.30 a.m. her father-in-law Shokeen asked her to open the door as he wanted to talk to her. He began touching me inappropriately after entering the room. After that I told him to go to bed when he was drunk. However, when I attempted to raise an alarm, he took out his gun, slapped me and threatened to kill my brother. He subsequently overcame me and raped me. I initially stopped filing a complaint against him to save the marriage and my brother, "the FIR added.
