Sonia Gandhi has been appointed the Congress Party's new interim president. Senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said after day lengthy deliberations conducted in a single line announcement to select a new party President. On Saturday night, the Congress Working Committee made a final attempt to convince Rahul Gandhi to proceed as the president of the party and suggested that if Rahul is still not relenting, Sonia Gandhi should be the interim president and oversee the top post elections.
