The congress leader in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, said it would be hard for any leader outside the Gandhi-Nehru family to run the party as it has "brand equity."

He also said Congress ' resurgence mainly relied on the weakening of regional parties that lack ideology, claiming the nation was headed for "bipolar politics." Chowdhury said that only a party like Congress with its "powerful" ideological mooring and pan-India presence could counter the BJP's "communal juggernaut." "The way regional groups work, they will lose their significance in the days to come. Their losing significance implies the country is heading towards bipolar politics.
