Former finance minister P Chidambaram, who was detained late Wednesday night from his Delhi residence in the event of INX Media, was sent to CBI custody for four days. At the request of the investigating agency, which accused the former minister of involvement in a decade-old kickbacks case, a Delhi Court ordered CBI custody for the senior politician. The 73-year-old politician was detained yesterday, about 90 minutes after making a surprise appearance at Congress headquarters in front of television cameras to rebut criticism of being on the run. After press conference he headed directly home from where he was taken away and detained.
