Investigator of the INX Media case concerning senior Congressman and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Rakesh Ahuja, was transferred back to the Delhi Police as his term in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) finished three weeks ago. In 2017, the CBI recorded a FIR alleging irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance granted to INX Media to the tune of Rs. 305 crore in 2007 when Mr Chidambaram was the Union Finance Minister. On the basis of the FIR, the ED lodged a case against him under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
