IAS Officer Quits Over Re

A 33-year-old Indian Administrative Service officer said he had submitted his papers to leave the much-loved public job.While saying his reasons, IAS officer Kannan Gopinathan said that one of them had denied "basic privileges" to the lakhs of individuals in Jammu and Kashmir for weeks after unique status had been removed from the state earlier this month. 

Mr Gopinathan, the secretary of important departments in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, was instrumental in transforming the government's loss-making electricity distribution company into a profit-making company.An IAS officer for seven years, Mr Gopinathan gave his resignation on August 21.
