Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who was detained in an inquiry into corruption on Wednesday, endured a series of setbacks today at the Supreme Court. His petition disputing his CBI custody was not mentioned at the top court for a hearing. A bench informed Mr Chidambaram's lawyer Kapil Sibal that the petition would only be listed following "Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi's instructions." .The top court also refused to take up his petition requesting protection from arrest by the CBI – filed on Wednesday saying that it was "infructuous" now that he was detained. The court is now hearing the Enforcement Directorate's petition to protect Mr Chidambaram from arrest.
