CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury will visit Jammu and Kashmir to meet with his party colleague and former MLA Mohammed Yusuf Tarigami after receiving a green signal from the Supreme Court. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court permitted Yechury to visit the state to meet with Tarigami, who was arrested by the police there in the aftermath of the Centre abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution, which gave the state unique status. However, a panel led by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi instructed Yechury to meet Tarigami only and not use the visit for "political purposes." The bench said the officials were free to report it to the apex court if the Left leader indulged in any political activity.
