Lucknow: All cases brought against Rampur MP Azam Khan would be withdrawn if the Samajwadi Party (SP) came to power, said its President, Akhilesh Yadav, on Saturday, with a sharp retort from Union Minister Santosh Gangwar, who called the allegation "unrestrained gossip." According to a statement by the SP, Yadav made these remarks at Rampur, where he met Khan's family at his residence and visited Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, Urdu Gate and Rampur Public School International.
He assured the party of complete assistance for Khan, who is facing a number of police cases, including those linked to the land grab. Authorities say that the Mohammad Ali Jauhar University Gate, developed by Khan in 2006, is constructed on public property.Yadav said that, if needed, he would meet with Governor Anandiben Patel in this respect. "I will inform her of the crimes committed by the administration. Copies of all FIRs filed against Khan shall be drawn and the report shall be compiled."
