Bengaluru: Union Minister of State for Home G. Kishan Reddy on Monday said hundreds of temples and schools that stayed shut down in the Kashmir Valley over the years would be reopened  as normalcy returns in the strife-torn northern border state. "In the Valley, a study will be undertaken to recognize temples and schools, evaluate their condition to revive and restore them for use as they have been shut down or deserted over the past 20 years as normal life has been interrupted by terror operations," he told reporters. Defending the repeal of Articles 370 and 35A of the Constitution, which gave the border state a unique status but deprived its people of advantages, Reddy said that even several cinema theaters stayed closed for years because the state was in the grip of terrorism and separatism.
